Peter Coene

Peter Coene studied agriculture and bio-technology (BSc) at KAHO Sint-Lieven and is the founder and owner of Aquatic Engineers, a Belgian consultancy which provides advice relating to water and sediment quality, fish health and general fishery and water quality management.


Prior to establishing Aquatic Engineers in 2016, Peter worked for the Flemish Fishing Association as a scientific and policy officer responsible for fisheries and environmental and spatial planning. He provided advice to fishing associations and public institutions on water and sediment quality and was the Manager of the Association’s environmental laboratories. Prior to becoming a consultant, Peter was a deputy member of the Environment and Nature Council of Flanders (the MINA Council), a member of the cormorant workgroup ANB, a rotating member of the special working group VEN/IVON within the MINA Council and a member of the Permanent Work Committee on River Fisheries.


Other services offered by Peter include the preparation of bathymetric maps and fish biomass studies (including sonar) as well as the implementation of cyanobacterial research, fishery and hydraulic engineering projects.
